D10-003: Letters of Credit (L/C) for Beneficiaries

Additional Information:

This is a compact 7-hour workshop dealing with various aspects of international bank payments and specifically the operation of the Documentary Credit (the L/C) – for the beneficiary.

HOW TO provisionally BOOK: Step one– on the right-hand side of the page you’ll see a place to insert your email address. The next ‘page’ captures your details and the page after, your company’s. This is the ONLY time you need do this. You are then sent a ‘link’ by email (this is an anti-spam measure).
Step two - you click the email link and this takes you to a summary of your booking with the opportunity for you to amend, add or delete delegates. Step three - once you are happy, you click ‘send pro-forma’ and that is the provisional booking taken care of. Your ‘accounts’ will receive the pro-forma invoice and the delegate will receive provisional notification of the booking.

Bookings are only confirmed on payment.

Thereafter, all you will ever need to do is insert your email address on the right-hand panel as above, and get the anti-spam ‘link’ by email; click on that link and select ‘send pro-forma’. So it is: email address, click the email link, click the pro-forma request – one, two, three finished.

ABOUT THE COURSE:The day is a consideration of how the credit works, and to determine at what point and under what conditions specific wording needs to be incorporated into the credit and for what purpose.

The ideal candidate will be a delegate who works in finance or operations, but who needs to interpret the credit as the beneficiary, without necessarily having a banking background.

Credits are by their very nature and definition specific, individualized instruments and the workshop cannot over every eventuality, however the core requirements of compliance and basic non-compliance issues are covered. The course is designed to serve as a platform for further study.

Your investment includes an electronic copy of the presentation material, plus copies of the official text of the Uniform Customs & Practices for Documentary Credits (the UCP 600) and the International Standard Banking Practice (ISBP E745). These are the official rules for the operation and interpretation of Documentary Credits, produced and published by the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.

Course costs include lunch.
Certificates of attendance are issued for this course.
4 Star Accommodation is available at the facility for those traveling to Johannesburg. http://www.gvgh.co.za/contact
